13 Seeing God’s Eternal Power and Divine Nature The complexity of our bodies and the interdependence of their parts testify to God’s eternal power, His infinite imagination, and His incredible intelligence. God created our bodies with a great variety of cells: bone cells, nerve cells, muscle cells, blood cells . . . Trillions of cells are performing vital functions: breaking down food for easy digestion, expelling waste, giving us the capacity to breathe, destroying our diseases, etc. Every cell has our unique DNA molecule with about 175,000 genes that determine our body size, our hair color, etc. These cells are used to construct muscle tissue, connective tissue, nerve tissue, etc. Your Creator knits these tissues together to create your vital organs: the heart, the lungs, the kidneys, etc. Then your Creator uses these vital organs to develop amazing systems that He mirac- ulously weaves together in your mother’s womb. The complexity of our brain and nervous system, our skeletal system, and all of our bodily systems testify to God’s eternal power and divine nature. We also see God’s love of beauty and His attention to detail and order all over the earth. The Bible says: The whole earth is full of God’s glory! Even though the whole earth is full of God’s glory, I don’t think we see the very heart of God’s nature until we look inwardly into our natures – the natures of men and women. And God did say He made us in His likeness and in His image (Genesis 1:26,27). Romantic Love – Where does the idea for romance come from? Why are males and females so powerfully attracted to one anoth- er? Romantic love is so powerful that thousands of poems and songs have been written in an attempt to express this love (e.g. Song of Solomon/Song of Songs). Why does romantic love stir such powerful emotions and feelings within us? Because this was God’s idea and He created us with the desire and the capacity for romantic love. This delightful idea came from the heart of God, and this tells us a great deal about what He is like. At the heart of God’s nature is His desire to love and to be loved in return and we see this same desire in ourselves.
