15 Knowing God “And this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and the One you have sent – Jesus Christ.” John 17:3 This is Jesus speaking and He is saying that life - that is eternal life - is a personal relationship with the only true God, the Creator of the universe. This tells us how valuable we are to God, and this also tells us the answer to the most important question in life: What is the purpose of life? or Why did God create us? Knowing God and experiencing His love is the deepest need of your life and nothing else will bring the lasting joy and fulfillment that we all long for. In fact, the very purpose of life – knowing God and His love for you – is not possible unless you build your life around His work for you. When we begin to do God's work He helps us to know ourselves and the abilities that He has given us, and then He teaches us how to use our abilities for eternal rewards. Since the purpose of life is found in knowing God and His work for our lives – we must answer this question: How do we come to know the only true God and His work for our lives? Did you know that God has created you with the capacity to know Him and to experience His love personally? God is never satisfied if all you do is learn about His eternal power and divine nature as you study His creation. God wants you to know Him personally and to experience His loving presence within you. Did you know that God has created you for a particular life work, and God has given you a unique personality with unique abilities that are vital to completing your life work?
