23 Jesus Invites You to Come “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 Are you sick and tired of the emptiness in your life? Come to Jesus just as you are! Are you weary of searching for happiness? Have you begun to realize that happiness is not just around the corner? You don’t find happiness in a new husband or a new wife or one more party or a bigger house or more money (consider the plight of lottery winners). Or you may say, “Oh I realize that happiness is not just around the corner – I quit searching for happiness a long time ago.” For you – life is a heavy load! Jesus says, “Come to me . . . and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Maybe you're sick and tired of acting like you're happy. You may have what other people want (beauty or wealth or a likable personality or intelligence or talent) and others just know that you are happy. But you're tired of putting up a front. Be real and come to Jesus! Life is confusing when others are striving for what you have, but at the same time you know your life is empty. Or maybe you’re trying to keep a positive attitude about everything in life. But trying to be positive may cause you to deny the reality that you are empty inside and you don't have real purpose in life. God allows no one to bypass this emptiness. So face reality and come to Jesus!
