16 Knowing God This is the Key to knowing God: Listen to Jesus! After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” Matthew 17:1–5 (NIV84) Have you carefully read the words of Jesus? Have you heard of Albert Einstein? Einstein was irritated with some in the scientific community who were trying to portray him as an atheist. Listen to Ein- stein’s own words as he was interviewed by George Viereck. This interview was in the October 26, 1929, issue of the Sat- urday Evening Post. Earlier we asked this question: Have you given much thought to all the ways God is speaking to you? Then we illustrated how God is declaring His eternal power and divine nature in all that He has created. But God has spoken to us in a far more important way - He has spoken to us through His Son (Hebrews 1:1-3). If you have never carefully read the words of Jesus, how can you consider yourself a good scientist in search of the truth? People who lived when Jesus was on earth listened to His words and this is what they said: “No man ever spoke like this man.” (John 7:46)
